Extended Care Program at Alexander Montessori School

Alexander Montessori School offers an "extended day program" to all children enrolled in the School.  This program is offered in three versions, two partial extended day programs and a full extended day program.

  • The partial extended day program A begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 1:30 p.m
  • The partial extended day program B begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m..
  • The full extended day program begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 5:30 p.m.

It is emphasized that the children in the extended day program are being offered an all-day Montessori program following the principles and guidelines established by the AMI Montessori Method.

The children enrolled in the full extended care program arrive at 8:00 a.m., approximately 45 minutes before the other children.  This time is generally spent outdoors where the children have the opportunity to spend time at such activities as gardening, maintaining the school grounds, helping to build garden and playground structures - all the time learning socialization skills and adding to their gross motor development.   These activities present a wonderful opportunity for the children to put into practice the 'practical life exercises' which they encounter in their classroom.
